Find Hope in Feng Shui Losing someone close to you is never an easy experience. Whether it is loosing a parent, friend, lover, or even a pet, the emotions that rush through you body can leave you in an emotional mess. Grieving is not only a process you go through when someone you love dies, but you can also grieve over an end of a relationship or loss of a job. Grieving is the feelings you have when something ends. Feng Shui can help ease some of the pain that goes along with this and help you move forward. I know from personal experience. I lost my Mom, Sheila Zaffer, about a year ago to breast cancer. Even though I was blessed to have her in my life for 28 years, I wasn't ready for her to go. I have had to find ways to get through this difficult time and feng shui as helped me tremendously. I would like to share with you what worked for me. Start Ritual. Rituals are so important during this time. When we loose someone or something we love is suddenly gone, we need to use the time we spent with that person in a positive way. In my situation, for example, I used to talk to my Mom every evening at about 8pm to check in and chat about our day. When she was gone, I had this space in my day that didn't feel right just leaving empty. I decided to start meditating each night at that time. I sat in my favorite room of the house. I call it the pink room. I lit some candles, put on some soothing music and relaxed. I thought about all of the good times I spent with my Mom and tried to focus on how she would want me to move forward in my journey as she did in hers. I felt so close to her and was left feeling rejuvenated. Change Your View. Whenever you go through a major life event, it's best to create a new view to look at each morning. Wherever your bed faces make sure to have something soft and welcoming greeting you first thing each day. Add delicate pink flowers, a fountain with whispering water lightly flowing, or if your view is a window, use drapes that blow gently from the air of an open window during warm seasons. My view happened to be two white closet doors. I figured it was a blank slate for me to stencil and paint a mural of what I imagine utopia to be. I love waking up each morning being reminded of what I strive for. Use Essential Oils. Oils can be used to balance your mood, help you relax and put the bounce back in your day. You can use the following oils by adding a few drops to your lotions, combed through your hair or in combination for a soothing bath. Rosewood is known to balance, sooth without being a sedative, and literally helps your cells to regenerate. Lavender (my favorite) as an anti-depressant, relives stress and used to boost the immune system. Bergamot helps lift the blues. Use rose to help with those long nights of insomnia. Color. Colors can have a profound effect on our everyday lives. Use them to help you through the feelings you may be experiencing. Incorporate red to get you up and moving, yellow to add cheer, blue to meditate, orange to repel loneliness, green to connect to nature, rest and calm, white to purify, black to express your strength and purple to evoke your inner spirituality. Wear these colors, use them when choosing home accessories and enjoy each one! Honor your Loss. If you lost a loved one, create an altar in your home to honor them. Hang pictures of the person or pet, hang religious icons, place any cherished tangible memory of them here, and go to this space when you want to feel connected to them. If you lost a job or ended a relationship, you can honor that loss by spending a night packing up the memories in a box, or tossing them out! It will help you move on a make room for the new! Activate Health Area of Your Space. It is best to find a physical release for the anxiety you may be feeling from this separation. Get your endorphins pumping with a good workout, yoga or a walk on the treadmill. Having trouble doing this? Here are a few tips. Add a bowl of fruit to this area (center of the home) to represent good health. Add anything that represents the earth; pictures of mountains, items that are square in shape, natural crystals, use the color red and anything in a triangular shape to feed the earth element and put it in a creative cycle. Start
by using one or two of these suggestions each week and watch
how well they work. The universe has a plan for all of us,
but it is up to us to use what we can to make it through this
life on earth. Remember that this is just a time, so enjoy
every moment! |
