| Reading The News - The Basics

Let's refresh our memories and show some of the simple basics and take the 9 Fire year of 2000 as an example.
Left is the basic Magic Square of 5 Earth that we always refer back to.
Right is the square valid within the period 4 February 2000 and 4 February 2001, the 9 Fire square. Without adding the month or day Numbers, this square pertains to the overal Qi situation for 2000.
It is used for Nine Star Ki and Feng Shui directionology and can be used to interpret personal and global events.
The Fire trigram consists of 2 yang lines and 1 inner yin line. It shows something strong on the outside, but vulnerable on the inside, just like fire that may come across as bold on the outside but entirely depends on its environment for fuel.
For this reason - as goes for all other trigrams -, besides explicit events we look for implicit events caused by fire.
For Nine Star Ki purposes this trigram is associated a.o. with fire, energy in its highest point, chemicals, oil, public relations, communication and all that is inclined upward and outward.
Fire is yang and it has the ability of bringing to the surface anything hidden. Therefore it can bring you fame, but bring about scandals at the same time.
Fire is yang and it can bring yin to the surface, so it can also bring out old emotional patterns or hidden ailments.

Contrary to 1999 - a 1 Water year - where we saw weak leadership both in businesses and politics and we did not see any shocking inventions, or significant events in information technology and corporate business, 2000 will lift up alot of issues to a higher point and the Fire of the year will make things visible from greater distance. Politicians and higher management will be visible more than usual and you can expect events that will be firy but will end just as quick as they appeared.
In 2000 we will see great political shifts and it will bring major global changes in leadership.
On a global scale - especially in the South of countries and cities and in summer - you should see a clear build up of events around fire, new films, chemical factories and chemical industry, oil related events, pharmaceutical industry and general growth in the stock markets. Any stock should be put in oil industry and the food industry.
Any Fire related event can be both positive and negative. On the one hand we may see calamities in the oil industry, on the other hand also new laws and support for this sector.
