One Room Feng Shui
Recently I had a lovely communication from a university student who heard my pod cast. She wanted to know how in the world to feng shui her dorm. She represents a substantial segment of the population who live in one room.

Can it be done? Well, here goes my effort to give a general summation of what to do. Of course using the compass and determining the flying star chart then evaluating the individual’s four pillars chart is best. To do that, you can purchase The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Feng Shui, Third Edition online at http://www.astro-fengshui.com . Until then, let us use basic Feng Shui guidelines to set up a one-room abode.

First of all, set the bed so that you can see the door without having to turn your head. If possible, place the headboard on a solid wall. If only a window is available then cover the window with a drape at night. Keep the area under the bed clear and clean.

Next, if you are a student determine your best area for study. The formula is simple. If the last digit of your birth year is 0 your Direction for Academic Success is northwest. If it is 1 then your direction is north. If the year is 2, then your direction is northeast. If the digit is 3, then your direction is east. If the digit is 4 the direction is southeast. If the digit is 5 the direction is south. If the digit is 6 the direction is southwest. If the digit is 7 the direction is west. If the digit is 8 the direction is southwest. If the digit is 9 the direction is west.

If possible place the desk so you can see the interior of the room. If space does not allow that configuration place a mirror on the wall so that you can see the door in the mirror. Make sure the mirror does not reflect the bed.

A nice storage chest at the foot of the bed helps to eliminate clutter. Using storage racks and bins from a cool place like The Container Store is also very useful. I bring this up simply because small spaces tend to clutter very quickly. When clutter is present, the qi has a hard time moving through the space and stagnation occurs then life begins to shut down in terms of vibrancy and effectiveness.

These are simple things to do that make a big difference.
