If this book could be described in one word then that word would be RICH.

This book is RICH in detail, Rich in layout and presentation, Rich in common sense and fulfills the main purpose; it enriches the reader immensely.

The core concept of this book is to bring the subject to contemporary and modern contexts, provide a rationale as to why BaZi is organized and works the way it does and to elevate the subject away from the common misconceptions and misunderstandings.

The book is sturdy with a thick cover and thick pages. This is a good feature considering that you will go back to this book again and again. The book will stand up well to a lot of regular and rough handling. However some people might find handling it cumbersome, especially note taking and reading it on a lazy chair or in bed.

The Author has expressed his ideas with finesse and his passion is evident in this book. The book is peppered with lot of anecdotes and questions that you need to ask yourself.

Beginners will find this book a gateway to an exciting new world. Intermediate and advanced people will find this book to be a great addition to their collection.

Each chapter starts with a Chinese saying encapsulating the chapter and the book flows lucidly through Ten chapters. Starting from the foundation question of what destiny is, the book goes on to explain chart construction, techniques of analysis, assessing the impact of BaZi in important areas of life such as health, relationships, career choices, finances etc. The book goes a step further into areas like Crisis management and tips to strengthen your potential.

The Visuals and the pictorial elements add vibrancy to the whole book and break the monotony, something that other books on the same subjects lack. Newcomers will find them to be good study aids.

However at some points in the book, I personally felt that the words were too strong but then they are grounded to reality.

Also a summary section or "points to remember" boxes could have helped out. There could have been a few pages where the steps of plotting a chart etc which could be detached which could have helped too. However this may have been discussed in other books by the same author.

Some exercises or more examples at the end of the chapters to reinforce the concepts would have made this book more integral. Also some help on pen strokes to draw the characters would have helped.

Compared to other books in the market, a little more detailed info would have appealed to intermediate and advanced students. However since more books are planned we may have to wait it out.

On a lighter note, a little more spoon feeding could have helped especially when people around you see you staring off into space.

The price… well I was gifted a copy by a dear friend but then it is a wee bit on the expensive side - at least for our country.

Overall I’d give this book a 8 on 10.

This book is no way a substitute to a course or classroom, but may motivate you to discover yourself and others around you in a whole new way. Gift this book to yourself and others – the gift of knowledge is most precious, money may come and go but knowledge is the first step to success and prosperity.
