Personal experience: There was one time when I was feeling rather edgy and uneasy. The weather was fine and I was not experiencing any strenuous moments, so I could not explain my frequent headaches. One day my mother brewed some Chinese herbs and took it into my room for me. All of a sudden, she exclaimed, "That ceiling above your head (where I was sleeping) brings bad health." Then she proceeded to change my sleeping position and after a few days I began to feel my old self again.
Of course, that incident happened when I was about 16 years old, but it taught me to be always aware of my surroundings, especially in the bedroom.
Now when my friends start falling ill, I always advise them to check their bedrooms first. Some of them call me old fashioned and a fuddy-duddy but Feng Shui has been around for a very, very long time, and in some cases we know that traditions are good for you. When I was growing up, my mother used to brew Chinese medicine and herbs and watched closely as me and my sisters drank it all up. They were indeed effective in eliminating illnesses. If you have never tasted Chinese herbs before, let me assure you that some of them can be extremely bitter and 'horrible' to a young child accustomed to sweets and ice creams. However we were left with no choice, as the tiniest indication of youthful rebellion would invite a rather painful slap on the leg.
If you have been feeling under the weather lately, you really should see a doctor and get a lot of rest. While you are lying on your bed, look around your bedroom. Be particularly aware of any sharp edges pointed at your bed, such as the corner of a bookcase or table. Is there a mirror at the end of your bed? Do you keep an aquarium at a corner of your bedroom? If yes, move the mirror away immediately. Hang it in a place where your image will not be reflected when you sleep. Take the aquarium outside and display it either in the living or dining room so that guests can admire your fishes. Water features have no place in the bedroom.
Are you at the losing end of your job? Everyone in the office knows something about you that YOU yourself do not know? Your now ex-best friend gives you the evil eye whenever your paths cross? In situations like this, you can either quit your job and find a new one, or turn a deaf ear to gossips and put up with everything.
You can also try to find out your 'sheng chi' direction based on your Kua number. Then find out which direction you are facing when you work in the office. Of course you will need a compass for this purpose. Best to do it during lunch time or after work, or your colleagues will bring a new case against you - using Oriental mysticism to cast a spell on everyone…
If your 'sheng chi' direction is South, try positioning your office table so that it faces South. However forego this position if it means you have to sit facing the office or toilet door, or your back facing doors and windows.
If you are lucky enough to have your own office, display a painting of mountains behind your back, minus any water features such as lakes and rivers. Make sure that you are not being hit by 'shar qi' caused by protruding and open corners, such as the edge of pillars and furniture. Some people have serious 'pillar troubles', where the sharp edge of the pillar faces their working table directly. In such cases you can't very well order for the pillar to be removed; your best bet is to soften the harmful poison arrows by placing a potted plant in front of the pillar, or to place some soft material on it.
Romance luck running a little short? Well as U2 said, "Love is a temple, Love the higher law" (One - ,album : Achtung Baby - 1991). No matter how much one denies it, it is indeed an unparalleled feeling very much needed by everyone. Sometimes it seems that cupid's arrow just does not seem to find it's mark - you.
A very common scenario is meeting many people but not being able to find the right person for a relationship. For a start, you can try sleeping with your head pointed in your 'Nien Yin' (Relationship) direction. For example, if your 'Nien Yin' is West, position your bed so that your head points to West when you sleep.
However if this position means having you to sleep with your feet facing the toilet or bedroom door, you can give it a miss. Display some symbols of love in your home, such as crystals and paintings of peonies. They do not have to be exactly similar as in the Chinese culture - modern day love enhancers such as romantic candles and deep red roses work as well. It is important to keep an open mind as well - sometimes the right person could be someone you have known for a long time.
If you are happily married and would like to remain that way, remove every display that symbolizes young love, such as peonies. When you stand at your main door looking out, is there a water feature such as fountains, ponds and swimming pools on your right hand side? If yes, it is worth the money and effort to have it covered or filled with something substantial like cement or earth. A water feature like that could cause your other half to stray, thus breaking up a perfectly happy marriage.
