Step Nine: Next Steps

I'm probably going to disappoint you a little here, because I'm not going to tell you how to read the chart.  That is a whole 'nuther website in itself - and I haven't built it yet

But not to worry!  There is at least one easily available resource that will tell you how to do it.  It's isn't free - but it is quite inexpensive, and well worth the money.

Pick up a copy of "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Feng Shui" (Elizabeth Moran and Val Biktashev, Alpha Books, 1999).  It only runs $18.95 at most of your better bookstores (very inexpensive compared to many of the courses and seminars on Feng Shui you might run into), and it contains a wealth of information about traditional Feng Shui.  It is one of those rare volumes in English that give a decent treatement of traditional methods.

"The Guide" contains a section on Flying Star charts.  The authors present a slightly different, two-star system (as opposed to the three-star system I just showed you), which will produce somewhat different charts than the ones you will generate following my system.  Don't worry about that.  They really are two completely different, though related, systems.  The system presented in "The Guide"  is sufficient for beginners, and is quite valid.  The system that I showed you is the ancient method that most traditional practitioners follow in the construction of the charts (although I have used some short-cuts that traditional practitioners might not recognize - the end result is the same, though).

The method of reading the stars, however, is the same in both systems, and Elizabeth and Val do an excellent job of explaining it.  Much better, most likely, than I could do.  I highly recommend every student of Feng Shui get a copy of "The Guide".  You will not be sorry.

By the way, if this sounds like a paid advertisement - it isn't.  I get nothing, nada, zilch, zip, from the sale of "The Guide".  I'm not one of the authors, and I don't work for the publisher.  I just think it happens to be one of the best English language books on traditional Feng Shui commercially available today, and so I tend to recommend it whenever I get the opportunity (such as times just like this).
